Azami Leather Craft is a technique developed by Kyoko Kawai to create crafts using transparent leather, like glass. It was developed with inspiration from Japanese armor.

Instead of the cowhide typically used in leather craft, pigskin, a specialty of Tokyo, is used as the main material. Pigskin has the characteristic of allowing finishing agents to penetrate easily because the pores go through from the back to the front.

In particular, works are made using transparent raw leather called "Leather Vidro" and the Azami Association's unique dyeing method. This technique produces various items such as brooches, accessories, and interior works.

Azami Leather Craft received high praise at the overseas NHK Culture Festival as "Japan's original leather craft that does not exist even in Europe, the home of leather." It has also obtained patents for leather products and their processing methods, decorative materials, and their manufacturing methods.
