Antique German Blown Glass Christmas Ornament – Early 20th Century
This is a beautiful antique European blown glass Christmas ornament, most likely German, dating to the early 20th century (circa 1925–1940). The ornament features a large teardrop / onion-drop form, measuring approximately 6 inches tall and 3.75 inches wide, a size commonly associated with pre-WWII parlor and feather tree ornaments.
The decoration includes interior silvering with frosted and etched areas, combined with hand-painted floral and panel designs in blue, white, and black. The raised outlining and painted sections are consistent with early German glass ornament techniques produced in cottage workshops for export.
The ornament retains its original metal crown cap and wire hanger, unmarked, which is typical of ornaments made prior to World War II. The pointed bottom with a sealed glass tip is also characteristic of ornaments from this period.
