This jacket was exclusively used by the Seabees (Naval Construction Battalions) for outdoor construction in Iceland and Alaska during World War II. The attached hood is designed to completely cover the face for the Seabees working in the harshest conditions, and the lining uses alpaca wool pile and a highly windproof material. According to one theory, it was worn by the Seabees in Alaska, but it seems that it was only worn for a very short period, and therefore there are few surviving examples. The Naval Construction Battalion is abbreviated as "CB", but it was named "Seabees" with the meaning of "working like bees on the sea". The character is a unit that depicts a bee holding tools.
