Pythagorean cup, also known as a "Cup of Justice" or "Greedy Cup". Hand painted fair cup. This type of ceramic drinking vessel is attributed to the Greek philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras, who intended it as a lesson in moderation. The cup has a hidden internal mechanism (a U-shaped siphon tube in the central column) that allows it to hold liquid up to a certain level.
If the user fills the cup beyond this specific line, the siphon effect is triggered, causing the entire contents of the cup to drain out of the bottom.
