Gorgeous sterling silver locket with large jadeite carved dragon measuring approx. 1.75 inches by 1.25 inches. Entire locket is 2.25 inches long. The locket opens to reveal a mirror. An emerald accents the piece and is surrounded by tiny clear gems. On the back is a gold dragon inside a tear drop inset. The piece weighs 24.5g. It is meant to be worn as a pendant. This is a beautiful example of carved jadeite, a much sought after gemstone. One of two distinct minerals commonly known as jade, jadeite is the rarer and harder variety. Rich green jadeite, known as “imperial jade,” is also the most highly valued. Jadeite can be found in many colors and is well-suited for both intricate carvings and cabochons. This is an exquisite example of Asian art.
