This is an Ichisei-made carved Shokko-sho (style) koma (shogi pieces).
Each stroke and dot was painstakingly hand-carved with a carving knife.
The lacquer uses the finest black roiro (lacquer) with a matte finish, creating a deep and subdued luster.
The surface was polished using sandpaper up to 3000 grit to bring out the natural beauty of the wood.
