This striking vintage scarf has a tag that reads "Designed & Woven by Robert D. Sailors Belmont, Michigan". It has a beautiful rough weave to it but is made from very soft materials. The white and brown are made of wool roving rather than anything that's actually been woven into a thread first. The black in the scarf is made from a conventional string. The scarf also has silver and gold strands woven into the design. This is 90% wool and 10% metallic. The scarf measures 76x20"
Sailors was born and lived in Michigan. His work is in the collection at the Art Institute of Chicago where he studied. More information can be found online.
