Bybee Pottery, established in Kentucky around 1809, was one of the oldest operating potteries in the United States. It was known for producing "heavy-handed," sturdy, and rustic hand-thrown utilitarian pieces like crocks and fruit jars. The process changed very little over its two-century history, primarily using local kaolin clay.
